Men of A-Chord Preparing for February Concert

A group of men meet every week to tune up their vocal chords and get ready to perform. Some of them have been doing it for almost 50 years. The group calls themselves Men of A-Chord and there are about 60 members. “I’ve been in barbershop for 46 years now,” Dennis Bush, the president of the group, said. “This society has been around for 65 years now and there are chapters all over the country.”

South Shore Men of Harmony announce singing valentines

Marshfield, MA - January 12, 2017


The South Shore Men of Harmony closed out their Christmas season performances with a concert on Jan. 8 at the Trinity Episcopal Church of Marshfield and will begin rehearsals in January and early February, focusing on singing valentines. At the concert, the South Shore Men of Harmony sang familiar carols, traditional barbershop harmony favorites and patriotic songs, and encouraged the audience to sing along during designated songs. Singing valentines is a yearly tradition on or around Feb. 14. The South Shore Men of Harmony will break into quartets to visit homes, businesses and restaurants to serenade a surprised loved one and deliver a rose on behalf of the sender.

President White accepts foundation CEO position

Bethel College President Perry D. White has informed the Board of Directors that he will become the next chief executive officer of Harmony Foundation International, based in Nashville, Tennessee. His new role begins April 3. “We congratulate Perry and wish him the best in his new position,” said Brett Birky, Denver, board chair.
